This piece is about a Black woman's feminine energy and the journey back to the center of her being.
The Essence of Divinity depicts a Black woman wearing a mask to represent the parts of her that are still unknown but that she will find along her journey. She is also depicted with different-colored flowers growing from parts of her body. The flowers represent the chakras and each area they affect. They are used to communicate the meaning of finding balance within all parts of yourself. In the painting she is within water to represent the flow of the energy and the cleansing energy water has over the body and soul. As this woman further transforms into the truest version of herself, she is nude to represent the release of external means.
Black women are always pushed to be strong and never show weakness or be seen. Returning to your feminine energy means living in flow and living aloud with no restrictions and being able to feel through your feelings regardless of the emotion. Sisters, you never need permission to be fully in your flow, and please never let anyone tell you otherwise. Black women are powerful beings.
